Born at Worksop, Nottinghamshire and lived at Keyworth, Nottinghamshire. Son of The Rev. George William and Laura A. Bennett, of The Manse, Keyworth, Nottinghamshire. He was a photographic chemist student prior to enlisting at Nottingham.  He was killed in action, 19th September 1917, aged 24, whilst serving in the line at Cambrin, France.
