Born and lived at Nottingham. Son of Edwin and Florence Benner, of Carlton, Notts; Husband of Florence Vines (formerly Benner). of 146, Chandos Street, Netherfield, Nottinghamshire. He was a french polisher prior to enlisting at Carlton, Nottingham. He was killed in action, 31st July 1917, age 30, in the attack near Bellewaarde Ridge, near Ypres, Belgium.
