Born at Blandford, Dorset. Son of Mary Benham, of 28 Station Road, Midsomer Norton, Somerset. He was a Coal Miner at Norton Hill Colliery prior to enlisting 12th February 1916 at Midsomer Norton, He went to France 7th July 1917, was transferred to the 2/7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment 27th July 1917 and was killed in action, 25th September 1917, during the attack at Wieltje, Belgium.
