Born Beckenham, Kent and lived at Derby. Son of Harry and Rosetta Bence, of 115, City Road, Derby. He was a grocer’s assistant prior to enlisting at Derby. Killed in action, 21st March 1918, aged 25, whilst holding the line near Noreuil, France on the opening day of the German Spring Offensive or (Kaiserschlact)
