British War and Victory MedalBorn, 22nd May 1898 at St. Helens. Son of Matthew and Lily Bell, of 8, Victoria Terrace, June Street, Barnsley, Yorkshire. He was educated at Hoyle Mill School, Barnsley. He was employed at Monks Bretton Colliery, Barnsley prior to enlisting on 24th November 1915 at Ripon, Yorkshire. He went to France in January 1916 and was killed in action, 26th September 1917, aged 19, in the attack on the German positions at St. Julian, near Ypres, Belgium.
