Battalion: 10th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born at Gainsborough and lived at Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Husband of Emma Eliza Bell, of 2, Halls Court, Spa Lane, Chesterfield. He was a colliery labourer prior to enlisting at Chesterfield. He was killed in action, 14th February 1916, aged 29, during heavy German shellfire and the explosion of a German mine, prior to the German attack of the front line trenches, near the canal to the south-east of Ypres, Belgium.
