Born and lived at Bishop Auckland, County Durham. Son of William and Isabella Bell, of 12, Ladysmith Street, Bishop Auckland. He enlisted at Bishop Auckland and was killed in action, 3rd September 1916, aged 19, during the attack on the German positions at Beaumont Hamel during the Battle of the Somme.
