Born Ripley, Derbyshire and lived at Alfreton, Derbyshire.  Son of Joseph and Maria Belfield of Fisher Lane, Duffield, Derbyshire. Husband of Mrs E. Bradshaw, of 6, Park Street, Alfreton, Derbyshire. He enlisted at Ripley and was killed in action, on 16th March 1917, aged 29, whilst serving in the trenches near Hooge, Belgium.

Buried: Vlamertinghe Military Cemetery, Belgium. Plot 6. Row C. Grave 3.
