Born and lived at Lenton, Nottingham. Son of Robert and Ann Maria Beighton, of 31, Tyre Street, New Lenton, Nottingham. Husband of Florence Beighton. He was a stoker prior to enlisting 3rd April 1908 at Nottingham. He went to France 8th September 1914 with the 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment. He died of Influenza 1st March 1919 at No. 30 General Hospital, Calais, France.

His brother Private Frederick Beighton, 1/8th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, also fell in the Great War.
