Private Sam Beevers

Battalion: 16th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Whittington Moor, and lived at Brampton, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Son of Samuel and Amelia Beevers. Husband of Mary Elizabeth Beevers of 25 Chatsworth Road, Brampton, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Was a wagon lifter at the Great Central Railway, in the Locomotive, Carriage and Wagon department at Staveley Station. He enlisted at Chesterfield on 29th May 1915. Went to France 6th February 1916 and was wounded 2nd August 1917, being treated at 62 Casualty Clearing, Bandegham, near Ypres, Belgium. He rejoined his battalion, on 23rd August 1917 and was killed in action on 19th October 1917 whilst in the trenches at Tower Hamlets near Gheluvelt, Belgium.
