Battalion: 1/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Ironville, Derbyshire and lived at Alfreton, Derbyshire. Son of James and Harriett Beers, of Stewart Street, Greenhall Lane, near Alfreton. He was a cake maker in an iron foundry prior to enlisting at Ripley, Derbyshire. He went to France on 1st March 1915 and was killed in action, 14th October 1915, during the attack on the Hohenzollern Redoubt, France.
