Born and lived in Birmingham. Husband of Elsie Beecham, of 130 New Town Road, Birmingham. He was a brass polisher prior to enlisting on 1st September 1914 at Aston Barracks, Birmingham. He was transferred to the 11th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, on 20th July 1916. He suffered shrapnel wounds to his head and right eye, on 9th June 1917 and then transferred to England, on 11th June 1917. He died of wounds, on 13th June 1917, of acute sceptic meningitis at the 2nd General Western Hospital, Manchester.
