Born and lived at Derby. Son of Frederick and Emma Bednall, of  36, Howard Street, Derby; Husband of Frances Maud Bednall, of The Woodlark, Bridge Street, Derby. He was a fish dealer prior to enlisting at Derby. He was killed in action, 29th October 1917, aged 30, when the 10th Battalion headquarters at Wijdendrift, near Langemark, Belgium was heavily shelled by the Germans, during the 3rd Battle of Ypres.
