Battalion: 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived at Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Son of Benjamin and  Agnes Bedford, of 27, Central Terrace, Chesterfield; Husband of Emma Bedford, of 4, Hopkinson Yard, Chesterfield. He was a railway platelayer prior to enlisting at Chesterfield. He went to Gallipoli on 6th September 1915 and went to France on 26th June 1916, suffered gunshot wounds to his abdomen and back, on 26th September 1916 and was admitted to 44 Casualty Clearing Station, Puchevillers, France. He was transferred to England on 29th September 1916. He was discharged “no longer fit” for military service on 17th April 1917 and died of wounds on 4th September 1918, aged 26.
