Born at Newfoundland. Eldest Son of Mr. A. H. Beatty O.B.E., of Chellow Dene, 56C, Putney Hill, London. He lived at 66 St. Mary Street, Birmingham. He was a Shaping Machinist (Engineering) prior to enlisting into the Royal Warwickshire Regiment (Birmingham Battalion) as a Private in 1914. He was commissioned Second Lieutenant 13th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment 30th January 1915 and went to France in October 1915. He was killed in action, 23rd June 1916, aged 22, whilst serving in the line at Locrehof Farm, Belgium, whilst attached to the Trench Mortar Battery of the 12th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment
