Born in Kegworth, Leicestershire and lived at Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Son of John and Emma Beardsmore, of 30, Central Terrace, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting 18th May 1915 at Chesterfield. He went to France 6th March 1916 and was killed in action, 4th June 1916, aged 19, in the attack on the on the German positions at Givenchy, France.
