He was born in Belgaum, India. Son of Regimental Sergeant Major William Ernest and Mary Anne Beardsley, of 34, Alfreton Road, Sutton-In-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. He was a miner prior to enlistment at Sutton-in-Ashfield, 7th September 1914. He went to France 28th June 1915 and died of shrapnel wounds to his head 13th July 1916, aged 19.
