Battalion : 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Smalley, Derbyshire. Son of Frederick Beardsley; Nephew of Frank and Jane Beardsley, of Smalley Green. Husband of Bertha Beardsley, of 15, Sedgwick Street, Langley Mill, Nottinghamshire. He enlisted at Nottingham and went to France 4th November 1914 and was killed in action, 16th September 1916, during the attack on the German positions at Guillemont, France during the Battle of the Somme.

Commemorated : Thiepval Memorial, France. Pier and Face 10 C 10 D and 11 A.
