Born and lived at Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. Son of John Robert and Catherine Baxter, of 3, Russell Street, Wisbech. He was holder up prior to enlisting, 19th May 1915 at Birmingham. He was posted to the 7th Battalion South Staffordshire Regiment and went to Gallipoli, 20th November 1915. He went to France 28th June 1916 and was transferred to the 11th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 20th July 1916. He was awarded the Military Medal, 9th April 1917 (London Gazette Date 26th May 1917) He was killed in action, 17th October 1917, age 26, by German shelling on the Support Line at Zillebeke Bund, Belgium.
