Born at Ancaster, Lincolnshire and lived at 1 Mozart Yard, Sneinton, Nottingham. Son of George and Isabella Baxter; Husband of Florrie Louisa Baxter, of 9, Front Row, Carlton Road, Nottingham. He was a labourer prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He was killed in action, 23rd April 1917, age 42, in the attack on the German lines at Bayonet Trench, near Arras, France.
