Born and lived in Nottingham. Son of Richard and Mary Bavin, of 2, Milner Road, Sherwood, Nottingham. He was educated at Nottingham High School and Nottingham University O.T.C. He gained a commission as Second Lieutenant, on 21st March 1918. He joined the 1/6th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment at Verquin, France 16th July 1918. He was killed in action, on 29th September 1918, near Ascension Spur, Vendelles, France.
