Born at Alfreton, Derbyshire and lived at 14, Wellington Street, Heanor, Derbyshire. Son of John and Mary Battison, of 128, Loscoe Road, Heanor. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He was killed in action, 25th March 1918, age 24, whilst in the line along the River Somme, France.
