Born at Leicester and lived at 3, Adderley Road, Leicester. Son of James Edward and Grace Emma Batchelor, of 3, Adderley Road, Leicester. He was a grocers assistant prior to enlisting 2nd August 1917 at Leicester. He went to France 3rd April 1918 and was killed in action, 27th May 1918, age 18, whilst the Battalion was retiring towards Montagne de Guyancourt. France.
