Born and lived at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. Son of William and Isabella. Barwise, of 11, Talbot Street, Nottingham Road, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. He died of wounds, 23rd April 1917, aged 19.
