Battalion : 16th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived at Manningtree, Essex. Son of Arthur and Susan Barton, of Brook Street, Manningtree. He was a storeman prior to enlisting 23rd October 1915 and Colchester, Essex. He went to France 24th February 1916 He was transferred to England, 5th November 1916, was transferred to the Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, and returned to France 11th January 1917. He was posted to the 16th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 2nd February 1917, and died, 23rd August 1917, of shrapnel wounds to his chest and spine at No. 2 Stationary Hospital, Abbeville, France.
