Born and lived at Brackley, Northamptonshire. Son of Edward and Sophia Bartlett, of Brackley. He was commissioned Second Lieutenant 13th Battalion Sherwood Foresters, 15th March 1915. Was posted to the 11th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 14th February 1916 and promoted Lieutenant 2nd October 1916. He was made Adjutant 22nd September 1916 and promoted Captain 19th October 1917. Was awarded the M.C. (Military Cross) London Gazette Date 3rd June 1918. He was killed in action, 9th October 1918, aged 26, by German shellfire on the Bussigny/Le Cateau Road, France.
