Born at Islington, London and lived at 12, Battledean Road, Highbury, London. Husband of Emily Simmons (formerly Barson), of 22, Elwood Street, Blackstock Road, Finsbury Park, London. He was a railway’s engineers labourer prior to enlisting 9th December 1915 at Holloway, London. He went to France 4th July 1917 and was killed in action, 27th September 1917, age 34. whilst in the line near Wieltje, Belgium.
