He went to France 18th September 1916 and was transferred to the 10th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 24th September 1917. He was killed in action, 13th October 1918, aged 38, in the attack on the German positions at the village of Neuvilly, France.
