Born at Kegworth, Leicestershire and lived at 57, Barnsley Road, Wath Upon Dearne, Yorkshire. Son of George and Rose Mary Barrs, of 1, Nottingham Road, Daybrook, Nottingham. He was a general labourer prior to enlisting at Mexborough, Yorkshire. He went to France 13th September 1915 and died of wounds, 24th October 1917.
