Battalion: 2/7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. Son of James and Lydia Barrows, of 26, Welbeck Street, Mansfield. He was an office clerk at an iron moulder prior to enlisting on 1st June 1915 at Mansfield. He went to France on 6th March 1916 and suffered a gunshot wound to his left foot on 10th October 1916. He was treated at 44 Casualty Clearing Station, Puchevillers, France and transferred to 20 General Hospital, Boulogne, France 12th October 1916. He was transported via Hospital Ship St. Andrew to England, on 13th October 1916. He returned to France 15th June 1917 and was killed in action, 21st March 1918, aged 23, whilst holding the line near Noreuil, France on the opening day of the German Spring Offensive or (Kaiserschlact)
