Born at Willesden, Middlesex. Son of Thomas and Louisa Barrett, of 5, Elgin Terrace, Maida Vale, London. He was a waiter prior to enlisting 1st August 1916 at Paddington. He went to France 28th March 1918 with the Royal West Kent Regiment and was transferred to the 2/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 30th March 1918. He was killed in action, 14th April 1918, aged 19, during a German attack near Kemmel, Belgium.
