Battalion: 1/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at New Sawley, Derbyshire and lived at 16, King Street, Long Eaton, Derbyshire. Son of John and Lucy Barratt, of 63 Cotton Lane, Derby. Husband of Emma Elizabeth Barratt, of 31, Hawthorne Drive, New Sawley. He was a lace twist hand prior to enlisting at Long Eaton and went to France on 25th June 1915. He was killed in action, on 1st July 1916, in the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
