He was a grocer prior to enlisting 11th December 1915 at Otley, Yorkshire He went to France on 26th February 1917 and was killed in action, 21st March 1918, whilst holding the line near Noreuil, France on the opening day of the German Spring Offensive or (Kaiserschlact)
