Born at Ashton-Under-Lyne, Lancashire and lived at Derby Road, Shelton Lock, Chelleston, Derbyshire. Son of Mrs. G. Barr, of 49, Blandford Street, Ashton-Under-Lyne, Lancashire; Husband of Edith Barr, of 109, Drewry Lane, Derby. He was a master hairdresser prior to enlisting at Derby. He was killed in action, 1st July 1917, age 34, in the attack on the German line west of Lens, France.
