Born at Belper, Derbyshire and lived at 166, Walbrook Road, Derby. Son of Henry and Sarah Barnes, of 175, Randolph Road, Derby. He enlisted at Derby and was killed in action, 24th July 1917, aged 21, during a raid on the Germn line north of Ypres, Belgium.
