British War and Victory MedalBorn and lived at Balderton, Nottinghamshire. Son of William Henry and Jessie Elizabeth Barks, of Balderton Cottages, Balderton. He was an iron turner in the employ of Messrs J. Simpson & Co., Newark, Nottinghamshire prior to enlisting on 24th October 1914 aged 17 at Newark. Was appointed Lance Corporal on 9th March 1916 and was killed in action on the attack on Mount Street Bridge, Dublin 26th April 1916, age 19, during the Irish Rebellion.

Buried: Balderton (St. Giles) Churchyard, United Kingdom. Row P. Grave 19.
