Lance Corporal Rupert Henry Barker

Battalion: 1st Garrison Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born and lived at Bedford. Son of Rupert H. and Mary Barker of 29 Ampthil Street, Bedfordshire. Husband of Florence Selina Barker. He was a painter and decorator prior to enlisting on 27th January 1913 at Bedford. He was appointed Lance Corporal, 1st June 1915 and went to Gallipoli, 26th July 1915. He was transferred to the 1st Garrison Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 25th January 1917. He later went to Egypt and was admitted to 27th General Hospital Cairo, 18th January 1918 suffering from cellulitis and boils. He died of pneumonia on 25th January 1918.
