He was born at Bradwell, Cheshire and lived at Wood Lane, Bradwell. Husband of Eliza Barker, of 14, Spragg Street, Congleton, Cheshire. He was a chemical labourer prior to enlisting on 10th December 1915, at Middlewich, Cheshire. He was transferred to the 15th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 9th April 1918. He was killed in action, 14th October 1918, during the British attack at Cable Copse, Belgium.
