Born at Townhead, County Durham and lived at Whitton Park, County Durham. Son of Adam and Margaret Barker, of 34 High Street, Tow Law, County Durham. Brother of Mrs Ida Lye, of 6, Newton Cop Bank, Bishop Auckland, County Durham. He enlisted at Ferry Hill, County Durham and was killed in action, 3rd October 1918, aged 19, during the attack on and the capture of Ramicourt, France.
