Lance Corporal Joseph Barber

Battalion: 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Marple, Cheshire and lived at Rowsley, Derbyshire. Son of Joseph and Sarah Barber, of 10, Chatsworth Road, Rowsley. He was a railway station bookstall attendant prior to enlisting at Derby. He went to Gallipoli on 1st July 1915 and was killed in action, 9th August 1915, in the attack at Ismail Oglu Tepe, (Chocolate Hill), Gallipoli, Turkey.
