Private John Barber

Battalion: 1/6th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born at Will Hey, New Mills, Derbyshire and lived at Thornsett, Derbyshire. Son of John and Sarah Barber, of 89, Bate Mill Row, Thornsett. He was a labourer at Calico Printers Association, Birch Vale, Derbyshire prior to enlisting on 9th January 1913 at Whaley Bridge, Derbyshire. He went to France on 28th February 1915 and died, 4th August 1915, aged 18, at No. 28 Casualty Clearing Station, from wounds received whilst serving in the line at Sanctuary Wood, Belgium.
