Born and lived at Retford, Nottinghamshire. Son of William and Martha Bannister, of Broad Berry’s Yard, Spittalhill, Retford. Husband of Annie Bannister, of 7, Wellington Street, Retford, Nottinghamshire. He was maltster’s labourer prior to enlisting at Retford. He was killed in action, 6th October 1918, aged 42, in the attack on Guizancourt Farm, France.
