Born at Staveley, Derbyshire and lived at 172, Poolsbrook, Staveley, Derbyshire. Son of William and Sarah Banks, of 70 Manvers Road, Beighton, Yorkshire. He was a colliery labourer prior to enlisting at Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He was killed in action, on 16th October 1917, whilst serving in the line near Zillebeke, Belgium.
