He was born and lived at Newcastle-Under-Lyme, Staffordshire. Son of William and Annie Bamford, of Newcastle-Under-Lyme. He enlisted at Stoke-on-Trent went to France on 4th November 1914 and died of wounds on 16th March 1915, aged 23, at No 14 General Hospital, Wimereux, France.
