Born at Riber, Derbyshire. Son of George and Sarah E. Ballington of Riber. Husband of Mary Ballington, of New Street, Bakewell, Derbyshire. He was a limestone quarryman prior to enlisting at Matlock. He was killed in action, 3rd October 1918, during the attack on the German positions at Ramicourt and Montbrehain, France.
