Born and lived at Long Eaton, Derbyshire. Husband of Elizabeth Ballard. He enlisted at Derby and was killed in action, 15th October 1916, in the attack near Le Transloy, France during the Battle of the Somme.

Commemorated: Thiepval Memorial, France. Pier and Face 10 C 10 D and 11 A.
