Battalion: 16th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born at Giltbrook, Nottinghamshire. Son of Thomas and Eliza Ball. Lived at Selston, Nottinghamshire. He was an apprentice gas engineer. Enlisted at Bakewell, Derbyshire. He was killed in action, 9th October 1916, during the attack on the German positions at the Schwaben Redoubt, near Thiepval, France during the Battle of the Somme.
