Born and lived in Nottingham. Son of James and Mary Ann Ball, of Nottingham. Husband of Sarah Ball, of Edwalton, Nottingham. He was a lace factory hand prior to enlisting on 26th May 1915. He went to France on 20th April 1916 and was killed in action, 14th October 1918, aged 40, in the attack at Cable Copse, Belgium.
