Born and lived in Nottingham. Son of William Henry and Sarah Jane Ball, of 52, Noel Street, Hyson Green, Nottingham. He enlisted at Nottingham and was killed in action, 1st July 1916, aged 18, in the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
