Born and lived at Loughborough, Leicestershire. Son of Thomas and Jane Ball, of 3, South Street, Loughborough. Husband of Florence M. Needham (formerly Ball). He was a wood polisher prior to enlisting at Nottingham. Killed in action, 1st July 1916, in the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
